We, as a cute little family of three, drink this EVERY MORNING. And I’m not lying to you!! This is such a huge help in making me feel like a good mom to a toddler who refuses to eat most vegetables. Plus, it tastes good and he loves it and asks for it!
This recipe will make a THICKKKKK smoothie. I have a Vitamix blender and it works great, but I know some don’t do as well with really thick smoothies- so just be aware of that! Following this recipe will typically get us through 2 days. I pour a bit into some cups with lids and stick them in the fridge for the next day.
I pour a portion of smoothie into each of our cups and I add some water to the blender then pour that into the cups and mix it up. It makes it less thick and helps us get through two days. But do as you please!!
I typically wing it but have written down a recipe for you! I often add things in or substitute with something else so I’ll add those at the bottom. I hope you enjoy!!
Recipe (in the exact order I add to the blender):
1 peeled banana
1/2 red gala apple (can use any apple you’d like!)
1/2 orange. I leave a bit of the peel on for nutrients!
1 large carrot
5-6 frozen strawberries. I use the big bag of Costco ones. I like this because it makes it cold without using ice and frozen strawberries last longer than not frozen ones.
Splash of milk (maybe around 1/2 cup?? add more as you please). I use whole milk but sometimes swap it out for Almond!
1 scoop chia seeds
1 scoop Orgain Organic Vanilla Protein Powder
2 large handfuls of spinach- really stuff it in there!!
Blend & enjoy! Add water or more milk if you want to make it less thick. (I use water)
P.S. these metal straws are under $6, come in a pack of 12 and 4 different sizes. We use them daily!
And these crazy straws are so fun for the kids! Comes in a big pack!!
Other things I add occasionally:
Vital Proteins Collagen Powder
1-2 dates for sweetness
Mangoes instead of strawberries
Kiwi for a little extra vitamin C 😉
1/2 Avocado for creaminess
