My baby is a year old and I’ve only just recently landed on a sound machine set-up I love. But first, we asked you mama’s your recs for sound machines! Here are the top recommendations:
HATCH BABY SOUND on sale now for $59.99
This was, by far, the top recommendation. It utilizes an app, encourages better sleep, and grows with your child. It’s larger than most, on the expensive side, and isn’t very portable. But owners swear by it!
HOMEDICS SOUND MACHINE on sale for $24.99
Was another recommendation, is an Amazon best seller, and is owned and loved by J! She’s used it for a year and half and loves the rain sound.
JACK & ROSE WHITE NOISE MACHINE currently 36% OFF
Features 16 sound options and 7 night light color options. This option was recommended as a Hatch alternative.
And now for the few I tried and tested! I’ll break down the pros & cons for each one.
PROJECT NURSERY PORTABLE SOUND MACHINE
+ It’s small and easy to travel with!
+ The sound options are great
+ volume is great for being so tiny
– it can’t be charged
– It’s a battery hog and overtime, the battery life seemed to get shorter and shorter
– you need a screwdriver to swap out the batteries. This is a major con for me as it always seemed to need a change right at bedtime.
FINAL SCORE: 6/10. I’ve used it for a year. But I’m looking for a better permanent nursery option and a better charge travel option. I’ll keep this one as a backup.
AIRSEE SOUND MACHINE
+ simple and aesthetic design
+ 31 sound options
+ Charge and battery options
– the on/off button is a bit fickle
– there is a human “shuush” sound that sort of creeped me out
– I’ve caught loops and other sounds in the recordings
FINAL SCORE 5/10 I sent it back. Classic case of form over function which is a fail for me.

+ great sound options
– Doesn’t get as loud as larger machines
FINAL SCORE 9/10 Perfect for travel, car naps, and babysitters.

– wouldn’t turn on
FINAL SCORE 1/10 It’s an “amazon choice” so it must be loved by many but it gets a 1 from me.
