As two moms in the thick of our “busy mom era” we know how easy it is to get caught in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. A simple conversation on Marco sparked an intentional plan to help our children focused on Christ this Christmas. So far, this includes lots of conversations about Him and celebrating Him in our homes with pictures, books, and nativities. It has brought such a needed peace!
- Little Lamb from Bethlehem book
- This sweet little lamb was there when Christ was born and he comes to your home each year to tell you all about it. My little one absolutely loves that “lamby” is in the story and he can hold him in his arms while we read the book.
- Savior: The Story of Jesus Christ Book
- We’ve raved about this book before. Made especially for kids, this rhyming book covers the entire life of Christ. We purchased it at easter last year, but it’s beautiful for the holidays, too!
- Little People Nativity Set
- My mom bought this for my son and he has loved it! When you put the angel on top, the star lights up and plays “Away in a Manger”. So cute and perfect for little hands.
- Christmas in the Manger
- The Christmas story laid out simply, in a board book!
- The Giving Manger
- A faith-based interactive family tradition to encourage kindness in kids! I love that it focuses on the joy of giving. Let your child add a piece of hay to Jesus’ manger each time they do something kind. That way, the manger is nice and soft for his birth on Christmas day!
- Wooden Nativity Set
- We were gifted this last year and my tiny plays with this every night before bed!! He knows each character and I love watching his little mind pick up on the Christ-centered Christmas story!
- More Than Just A Star Book
- Geared toward children who are a bit older. Maybe preschool and up! Such a beautiful book that talks about many of the signs that were prophesied in the Old Testament about the birth of our Lord & Savior!
- Wood Nativity Ornaments
- Speaking of neighbor gifts!! These would be so cute tied to a little box or bag. But don’t forget to keep one for yourself to hang on the tree 😉
- I Believe In Santa Claus Book
- A book that says it’s okay to believe in Santa Claus, yet shows how this time honored symbol is meant to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas; Christ, himself!
OTHER IDEAS:
- Donate to a “Giving Machine”
- Draw the nativity scene together!
- Say a prayer of gratitude together.
