My must haves! I haven’t left the house hardly at all this first week and a half. So this is what we’ve been living off of here in our newborn heaven!
- Silverettes. 100% BY FAR MY NUMBER ONE MUST HAVE. I put these on as soon as my little lady was born and basically haven’t taken them off. (I did for a few hours one day and I’m not even kidding when I tell you my nipples started cracking and bleeding. I put them back on and they healed right up!) If you’re curious how they work, here’s a link explaining silver’s properties and how they help heal/prevent!
- Night Light. An absolute MUST in my opinion!! I love that this light is dim enough to not wake my husband, but bright enough I can see what I’m doing. It’s easy to work and small so it doesn’t take up too much room on my nightstand. All you do is flip it upside down to turn it off and turn it right side up to turn it on!!
- Roe Diaper Rash Cream. After the first few days, my little one’s bum was a little sore and WHEN I TELL YOU THIS CREAM IS SUPERIOR!!!!!!!! A little goes the longest way, it hardly has a smell, it wipes off my fingers really well, and it WORKS like a charm! Thank goodness for Roe for giving us all what we need! Clean products for our precious babies that work!! (Use code: MOTHERHOODMHAVES for 15% off sitewide!)
- Roe Calming Baby Oil. While we’re all high on Roe, I’ve loved loved loved using this calming baby oil on my girl! It’s soft, melts into the skin beautifully, and really is calming?! I try to use it every night before I put her jammies on! (Use code: MOTHERHOODMHAVES for 15% off sitewide!)
- Earth Mama Nipple Butter. I debated whether or not I should do a “Nursing Must Haves” list, too. And maybe I still will. But a whole lot of postpartum includes nursing essentials for me right now so I’m going to just include it all! I love that this nipple butter is certified organic so you don’t need to rinse it off before nursing. I worry constantly about ingredients that are used in baby products so this has been a huge sigh of relief (for me & for the ladies! ;))
- Huckleberry App. While we’re talking about nursing must haves, this app has been so so so good for tracking! You can track diapers, naps, etc etc. But I’ve just been using it for nursing. It has been so easy to use. I downloaded probably 4 or 5 other apps. None of them were as easy, and lots of them you have to pay to use the full app which is annoying. I tend to hyperfixate/become obsessive about this kind of stuff, so I’m planning on using this app until she is back to her birth weight and hopefully I’ll be able to remember which side I nursed on last 😉
- Nursing Bra. This bra is so good!!!! Last time I bought the Target one that everyone raves about and I truly hated it! I love this one from Amazon. Fits perfectly, feels like butter, is easy to unsnap each side, etc etc. Checks all the boxes for me! I think I might snag another to have when it’s being washed.
- After Ease. This was a hospital must have for me! And I used it for a few days after, too. It’s a herbal supplement you squirt into your water to help with those after-birth cramps! I loved the taste of it and used it religiously after. Also, a follower told me she used the same brand’s “Happy Duct” and it cleared up her Mastitis so fast! If you’ve been here for a minute, you know Claire and I have had mastitis too many times (one time is too many!) so this might be something great to keep in the medicine cabinet for emergencies!
- Postpartum Underwear. I’ve loved these. They are full coverage and don’t squeeze me. They have been perfect for these few weeks after birth!
- Frida Peri Bottle. I didn’t have this with my first and it is SO MUCH BETTER than the one they give you in the hospital!! I’m so thankful to my sweet cousin for gifting this to me because now I cannot go without it!
- Button Up Pajamas. These have been on repeat. So soft and perfect for nursing! Always sad when they’re in the wash haha.
- Stanley Ice Flow. You know how thirsty you get while nursing!! This water bottle goes EVERYWHERE with me. I love that it doesn’t spill and keeps my water cold for a long time.
- Hand Pump. I used this the first few days my milk came in! After my baby nursed, I would pump a little more out to find some relief. It was nice to not have to hook up to my actual-plug-into-the-wall-pump but still find some relief!!
- Milk Bags. And I put that milk in these bags and straight to the freezer! I haven’t started pumping up a stash of milk yet, but when I do, these bags will be my best friend!
- Haakaa. I’ve also been utilizing the haakaa this go around and it’s crazy how much milk you can collect just from the other side’s letdown!!
- Nursing Cover. For when we have company! These have been fantastic. They double as a carseat cover, too!
- Postpartum Belly Wrap. I wore this with my first and now with this baby and I love the support it gives postpartum!
- Postpartum Pants. Like I said, I haven’t left the house much… but when I did- these are what I wore!! Flowy, stretchy, high waisted, perfect for postpartum!
- Baby Brush. Maybe this isn’t an absolute MUST HAVE but I have loved using it on my baby’s sweet newborn hair- and she loves it, too!!
- Mitolife Magnesium Complex. I take these every night. They help in keeping my bowels regular. IYKYK.
- Protein Balls. These are so great for lactation, too! I made a whole bunch of these before baby was born and stashed them in the freezer. Oats, flaxseed, and protein rich foods are especially good for milk production! XOXO
- P.S. The Skims Nursing Bra is a big huge fat NOPE from me!! There’s no padding… the ladies need padding!!!
